Two of Macedonia's most popular monasteries are the Sveti Jovan Bigorski Monastery and the Treskavec Monastery.

Sveti Jovan Bigorski is a fully working monastery and one of the most visited in Macedonia. Dedicated to St. John the Baptist, Sveit Jovan Bigorski houses one of the most valuable wood-carved iconostasis in the orthodox religion.
