Knoxville is home to the University of Tennessee. Knoxvillians love the University and they especially love the U.T. Volunteer football team. They are so enthusiastic about college football that even someone that doesn't like football would enjoy a U.T. home game.

Knoxville is a scenic metropolitan city in East Tennessee that lies in the valley between the Cumberland Mountains to the west and the Great Smokey Mountains to the east. With the resort towns of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge less than two hours away and seven lakes within a half hour drive, the Knoxville area presents plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Knoxville has a temperate climate and is especially beautiful in the spring when the dogwoods are in bloom and in the fall when the sky is a gorgeous blue, the air is crisp, and the leaves have turned a brilliant hue.

The Knoxville area is steeped in history with museums and historical sites in abundance. The city is also the cultural center for East Tennessee. The Knoxville Museum of Art displays fine art from all over the world and the Knoxville Orchestra is known for its outstanding performances.

Knoxville is made up of many residential neighborhoods but locals usually speak of North, South, East, West Knoxville and Downtown. Most of the museums, art galleries, shopping, and hotels are centered Downtown, around the University of Tennessee campus, and in West Knoxville. Most of the growth in recent years has been on the west end of town, although the downtown areas of Old City and along the Riverfront have been renovated in recent years with trendy lofts, boutiques, restaurants, and a beautiful walkway along the river.

Blount Mansion
built in 1792, this was the home of William Blount, one of the signers of the Constitution, and Governor of the US Territory south of the Ohio River. Tour tells many interesting historical facts and stories. Open 9:30am - 5:00pm, Monday - Saturday from April - December 19; 9:30am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday from January 5 - March 31. Located at 200 W. Hill Ave.
