Look, over there. Is it a bed? Is it a plane? Well…it’s actually a plane with a lot of beds. Now all of you that have had some trouble sleeping on planes might be rolling your eyes and groaning inwardly, but this is plane-ly different from anything you might have experienced beforehand. Stockholm’s jumbo hostel is a converted Boeing Jumbo 747 that has arisen from the ashes of its former avatar to become one unique snooze zone. If you’re anywhere in the immediate vicinity of Stockholm’s Arlanda airport, take a quick peek over at the hulking form grounded just off on the tarmac and lo presto, there you have it; a movable hostel unlike no other in the civilized world, one where your dreams can take flight.

They called the 787 the Dreamliner, but there is no reason to believe that that would not be a more appropriate name for this innovative place of stay, for altogether different reasons of course. The Jumbo Hostel has bunked rooms spanning either side of the aisle as we know it, right from the center to the tail of the aircraft. Some of the rooms even come equipped with attached bathrooms (none of those gnarly queues for the toilet) although there are also shared bathrooms spread across the length and breadth of the aircraft for the true airline experience. Talk about retaining authenticity.

As you may well remember, the 747-200 boasts a second deck and a part of this has been converted into a common area as has a similar area nearer the nose of the airplane. The creators have even gone to the extent of taking out the seats from first class and using them on the higher level, making things a bit more surreal and comfortable for all. You can always unwind at the common area on the lower level, near the front as mentioned previously, and partake of some snacks and drinks while chatting with fellow residents. You could be forgiven for believing that it is all a bit cramped and claustrophobic, but the rooms themselves have two beds, wireless internet and flat-screen TV’s installed which is standard fare for any hotel room and it is as cozy as it gets while on an airplane, and not spartanly in its furnishing.

The story behind the creation and conversion of the hostel itself bears retelling. A Swedish hotelier, Oscar Dios, was looking at options for a new property and stumbled upon the idea of buying a 747 that was headed for the junkyard. After much effort was made to make it habitable and an attractive option for tourist, its doors were thrown open for boarding. The cockpit has been converted into a larger suite, complete with some of the original interiors and it is all a novelty, albeit a fun one that beats the hell out of checking into your run of the mill hotels. Just 10 minutes from the check-in counter at the terminal, the thought of saving yourself the pain of sleeping on the airport floor due to an overbooked/delayed flight is a joy in itself, and that’s without even considering for a moment the delightfully diabolical manner in which a bit of innovation and recycling was pulled off. Sleeping at the airport was never made to sound better.

Yeah, you have read it absolutely correct, our planet needs help, so people from different sections of society have started giving a thought over the slogan “save the planet”, masses in large numbers are now-a-days getting conscious about their lonely planet, which has been found by a recent online polling where people actively participated. You might be familiar to the fact that everything we perform in our daily routine has some or other impact on our sensitive planet. The occupation we indulge in to earn our and our family’s bread and butter to the comfortable ride we take, everything sets to deteriorate our planet’s health.

Each of our acts imposes a heavy burden on the environment. Human beings are the one who love their freedom be it the freedom of speech, freedom to move anywhere or anything else. Yes, they also love the freedom of traveling, they move anywhere or everywhere, but this travel costs a heavy expense, not to the human beings, but the environment. The environment has to go through the adverse conditions. This ground reality was in the past an unknown myth to everyone, you too are conceding to this fact.

But today, conditions are not the same as they were before. Today, quite lot commuters are very well familiar with this bitter truth; they are becoming more and more conscious of the consequences of their activities. Perception of the travelers has evolved over years. They are willing to choose a different course of action to rectify their mistakes and the main reason behind this change is the consciousness to protect the environment.

The recent online polling of more than 24,500 consumers from 144 countries, conducted by the guidebook publisher Lonely Planet has ultimately come out to a conclusion which says that the number of people willing to consider offsetting carbon emissions has increased. Visitors understand the outcome of their actions, might be they have understood the famous phrase “Precaution is better than care.” Therefore they have left the alternative of airplane and adapted to the least affecting transport. They have come up with new innovative ideas like using annual personal carbon allowance, lessening usage of air travel or by chance if they are in extreme need for its usage, then they pay more for that by means of using carbon tax. So, this awareness has helped in a massive way because people have turned skeptical in discourse of their actions because they don’t want that there actions should be paid by the caring environment.

There are some people in the society who find rail-travel as unreliable because it consumes a lot of time as well as it is costly. People are putting off by the high price of tickets. But, there exists some people who are comfortable with rail travel and find it an appropriate option. However, I appreciate the efforts bestowed by the people who are ready to compromise with easy but rather dangerous modes of transport. Hence the efforts endowed by the travelers for positive results give a way to ray of hope that we may be successful in our joint initiative of saving the planet earth.

Nowadays it hosts games for the major football teams of Rio de Janeiro such as Botafogo, Flamengo and Vasco da Gama.

And if you time your travel well, you just might get to see a live match of your favorite football stars.

Have you often watched movies and thought that you too want to be like the carefree globe trotter on the screen? Have you ever felt jealous of travel show hosts who chance upon the whole world (and are paid to do that)? Has it always been your dream to wander around the world and experience its wonderful adventures? If your answer is yes for even one of these questions, then it’s time for you to do something about the present scene.

Not everyone is fortunate to go on financed tours to great places and then get paid for it too. And not everybody is made to be on these kinds of job. So stop cursing yourself and start working towards getting the desired end- to TRAVEL.

Now you have a problem. What do you do about your job? You can’t possibly get couple of months off just for travel; neither can you lie about a maternity or paternity cause. But you know how ‘not -happy’ you are here. So why kill your wishes for something you never wanted. It needn’t be a scary experience, at least not scarier than the present scenario. Stepping out of the comfort zone and out of the familiar routine can sometimes give you more kicks than the deadliest alcohol. So break free from the monotonous cycle of paying bills and spending and go out to realize your dream of traveling.

If this is still not enough and you need more reasons to quit your job for travelling, then read on.

If you think there is more to life than this:

If you and your friends always end up discussing how boring your life is and how much it lacks some solid adventure, than it is time to kiss goodbye to your briefcase and say hi to a suitcase. Don’t let the world pass you by whilst you stare out of the office window thinking what it could have been.

I earn money to enjoy my life:

Do you feel your money, which you have earned after such hard work is getting wasted? Life is there to be enjoyed, save that pay packet and get out into the world! Don’t fall into the trap of paying for products and services that you don’t really need. Cut out the wastage and save so that you fulfill your travel dreams.

It’s now or never:

A lot of people say they are going to do something but never get around doing that. They are afraid that if their dreams are realized, they will have no reason to keep living. It often comes down to one’s comfort zones; they step out to a degree but then fall back in. The key is to take action and make it happen. Traveling won’t solve your problems but will be an amazing experience. It can give you a whole new perspective on life and work.

Don’t fear the unknown:

It’s very important that you don’t fall prey to stray thoughts of how dangerous the world is. Until and unless you don’t experience the danger firsthand how can you decide what is easy and what is not. Don’t let the fear of the unknown put you off, once you arrive you’ll usually realize it’s not scary or dangerous at all. Just like at home where common sense works.

The first step is always difficult. But once you get a hang of it, it’s a great experience. Today, taking a gap year is much more widespread and a lot of employers look at it in a good light. After all it will help you to obtain a worldly perspective and lets you see the bigger picture clearly.

So then, what more are you waiting for. Buck up and get ready to go on journey called life.

When the alchemist asked him the reason why he is not going, he wisely said, “Because it is the thought of Mecca that keeps me alive. That’s what helps me face these days that are all the same…I am afraid that if my dream is realized, I will have no reason to keep living.”

If you are still reading on, then definitely you are one of the two categories mentioned above. You have dreamt of trotting around the globe but are still thinking on 5Ws and 1H (What, Where, Who, Why, When & How). Some people are fortunate enough to have realised their goals while others are still contemplating. If you belong to the latter, then just read on, get inspired, pack your bags and LEAVE.

If you are a true travel enthusiast, listen to your heart and take on the unimaginable journey that you want to embark on. Don’t worry about anything and follow these simple tips. Trust me; you will never regret it in your life.

Thorough research: Whichever continents you have planned to visit, do a thorough research on them in advance. And by research, I don’t only mean guidebooks but real people who have been there and done that before. For this I recommend the umpteen nos. of travel blogs or sites available on the Internet. Read them well and plan your trip wisely.

Prepare yourself: Mostly, it is a decision of a life time. Think hard and prepare yourself in advance. If you are addicted to home comforts, look out and see the less fortunate’s lifestyle. Keeping a minimum budget for luxury, while travelling is the wisest thing to do. Trust me when I say, a few days of hardship is going to do you good.

Start saving smartly: Once you have decided on the journey, be wise and start saving judiciously. In this world there is nothing like a free lunch and you should prepare yourself for that. Start sorting out your finances and pay off any debts or pending credit card bills. When you plan your trip financially, keep at least a 10% of the amount, extra for any emergency.

Prepare others: When you leave for months to go around the world make sure your friends and family support your decision. After all it is them who are going to take care of your house, pets, business etc.

Take precautions: Make sure that before you embark on such journeys you are in the finest of health. Do health checks and take all relevant vaccines. After all it’s always better to take precautions.

One ‘big tip for your big trip’ is to go and book your tickets. The sense of travelling and the freedom that it entails will sink in faster once you have done that. Perhaps it’s because once you’ve booked your flights, there is no way of ‘going back’ left. So buck up and go far away. Bon voyage!!!!

Have you ever imagined yourself to be just traveling… far far off… On a DIET BUDGET!!!!

At this point, you have to stay at least once, (if not all the time) in a hostel dorm. Dorms are great for giving you the opportunity to make friends while taking away from you the sleep that u desperately are in need of. And to top it all, the squeaky bunk or the cheap plastic mattress or a heavily snoring roommate, can really take out any fun that was left to be enjoyed…

A wise man once said, ‘when u have to sleep, you have to sleep and cannot do anything else.’ And so let us give you some tips so that u can endure all this and still, are able to catch up on your most revered SLEEP.

Ready yourself for anything : Before embarking on any such tour, you should mentally prepare yourself well in advance. If you are doing it for the first time ever, prepare yourself for anything at all. You should stride any difficulty with positivity and patience (2 Ps). Even if you get caught in a bad riot or a town with an emergency curfew on, follow the 2 Ps and the rules and you will be fine. Remember that these hostels would be the only place where you can be safe and out of any trouble.

Good pair of earplugs and sleep masks : The first and the foremost thing u need to carry whenever you are off on a tour like this is a good pair of earplugs and sleep masks. We recommend two such pairs so that even if one tears apart, you still have the other to use. It is a vital part of your packing and should be on the top of your luggage list.

Security issues : Remember that when you are staying in such cheap accommodations, security risks are the highest. Travelling light with just the basic materials and no shopping on the way is highly recommended. Also all the important papers like passport, visa or driving licenses and money have to be taken good care of, while safeguarding it with utmost sincerity. Remember away from home, these papers are the only things that define you.

Be flexible and tolerant : You have to be flexible about when you are going to get some extra siesta. Afternoons is a pretty good time as everybody has headed out. If you have had a bad journey and are suffering from lack of sleep, just take the afternoon off from touring and head for a nice long nap. Being tolerant is a harder one to manage but it works very well. Think about other things and you’ll fall asleep eventually

Bed location : Last but not the least; the bed location is a huge issue. Don’t pick the bed near any door or the bathroom if there is one. Same applies if there is a wall of lockers in the room. Even if beds are assigned, you should always request a different number.

Once you learn to sleep differently when you are on the road, you will have the heartiest trip ever. You should be ready for any kind of disturbance, be it a child crying through the night or a symphony of bears snoring away to glory. If you can adjust to these issues early on, you’ll manage to get a better sleep which will leave you fresh as a lily for the journey of the next day.

You are on a travel and guess you come across a wonderful picturesque land and you don’t have a camera to capture it, what do you do in such a situation? If you are a creative writer and don’t want to miss out on this wonderful picture you simply pull out your pen and paper and start scribbling. Scribbling in terms not merely scribbling but write notes on what you just saw. For creative writers, any place is the best suited may it be the last deck of the bus or a bench near the sea shore. You can select the place as per your preference.

The best advantage of spontaneous writing is that you don’t miss out on any details, if the matter is delayed then you might miss out on some points but when it is live that you are jotting down all the points its highly impossible for you to miss out on any thing that is important. Travel blogs are getting popular these days and I have even seen people leaving their jobs and setting out on a world tour and they get funding through their blogs, which they write of their experiences. The major creativity comes from you when you are spontaneous you want to get things done just now without any delays, this gives you can added benefit of writing more creatively.

So pick up a place where you are comfortable and get ready to draw the across picture in to words, use as many creative words that comes to your mind relating to the episode, find the beauty in everything that you see across and define them for your readers. Think that your readers are blind and help them know for real what you are seeing at present. Once you get in the tangle of writing, you will see that you just go on and on and there is no stopping you, you develop your inner creativity by exploring your own self. Find the trick, which will help your readers visualize for real and get them interested in to your story line.

You may term it as free writing, intuitive writing or free writing, let the flow remain whenever you write, even at 2’O clock at night you should feel the energy and push yourself in to writing what you are currently experiencing. As they say, “Actions speaks louder than words”, the reverse is true especially when you are not eye-to-eye with a person. Liberate yourself from anything that is binding you and set yourself in to new free world, you can correct any grammar errors later but for now let just the flow happen.
