The last month’s natural calamity, earthquake, befallen on the Haiti is the most tragedy event in the history of Haiti. In past few years, when finally, Haiti was becoming visible to the world for its tropical lush vegetation and scenic views, the last month’s earthquake pushed it back in to the darkness from the sunlight of the Caribbean. The faith of new start for Haiti was, this time, buried behind the horror of the earthquake which resulted in more than ten thousand deaths and millions displacements.

Though continues suffering from human or natural calamities that Haitians over the years have tolerated, have still maintained their welcoming and proud spirit! We just hope that Haiti this spirit is sustained through their latest trials. And can finally rise from its turbid past and heartbreaking present.

If you are only aware about the Haiti’s long history of civil wars and recent tragedy, then you do not know anything different about it like rest of the people. Haiti is the most beautiful island in Caribbean ocean and occupies a third of the Hispaniola Island which most of the tourist love to stay. It is a great place for tourists looking tropical forest and magnificent beaches.

Travel anywhere in Haiti, people is friendly and the places are also safe for the travelers. When you will reach there you will realize, that the place is not as dangerous as it is portrayed. But cautious should be maintained.

Initially, Haiti was ruled under the governess of Spanish and French. You will see the glimpse of these it in, Haitians culture, building and language – Creole. And it is from here that Atlanta got its Creole influence.

Port-au-Prince is the capital city of Haiti and also badly affected by the earthquake. But still many cruise ships stop at the dockyard of this capital and enjoy the beaches nearby.

It is surely bigger island than you think! The beaches are unspoiled and have option to stay as resorts and lodges nearby the beach. Even if Haiti does not have any luxurious accommodations, it is the most beautiful island you ever will be.

To the northern side of Haiti is the northern coast from where everything begins. It all happened here, from Columbus’ first landfall on Hispaniola to the key events of the Haitian slave revolution, and there are many monuments that have left to mark this path of history.

Just an hour distance is the richest in colonial ports and shuttered doors and balconies are the base of what you explore at the northern coast.

Cap-Haïtien is the second city of Haiti, which is away from hustle of Port-au-Prince. The city is perfect to wander around as it is quite, and is full of architectural structures. During the French colonization, it was the richest city in Caribbean and now is rich in French Architecture. The development in the city is in progress like the one facility of water has made and soon other small changes will be also seen. The other attraction in this place is the amazing La Citadelle la Ferrière and the beaches around Plage Labadie.

The only way to reach is through Port-au-Prince. There are two flights, which come here twice from the Port-au-Prince.

If head move to the southern coast of Haiti then you will be heading towards the Caribbean Sea and near the coast is the Jacmel town, which is a gem for most of the tourists. The place is very relaxing and many things to do here. It is an old coffee port and most of the tourists hit the handicraft shops for painted wood and papier-mâché, which are pretty famous around here. This place is also famous for masked carnival and the streets just get crowded by the people in beautiful and different type of masks.

The beaches at this coast are blessed by rich hotel as well as cheap cottages.

The airline Caribintair has flights only from Port-au-Prince. And airport at Jacmel is six kilometers east to town.

You can travel by road, as there are three ways where you can cross from Haiti into the Dominican Republic. One is, in the south near Malpasse/Jimaní, a road that links Port-au-Prince to Santo Domingo. A second crossing point is near Ouanaminthe/Dajabón in the north; it is on a road that connects Cap-Haïtien and Santiago. The third is the border crossing at Belladère/Elías Piña. These crossings close at 6pm.

Haiti’s main hub is Aéroport International Toussaint Louverture in Port-au-Prince, though a few flights also connect Cap-Haïtien to Florida. There are stories about hassles and bribery at Port-au-Prince’s airport, which used to happen in past, although arrivals can sometimes be a little hectic.

NOTICE:

Though I have mentioned the best places of the Haiti, the island has affected very badly such as parliament destroyed, the presidential palace destroyed, the main hospital, the UN headquarters, a major hotel, the prison, the Catholic cathedral – all have destroyed. The southern town of Jacmel – a truly lovely place with beautiful Victorian buildings and one of the best carnivals in the Caribbean – is also reportedly greatly damaged, and the road over the mountains connecting it to Port-au-Prince is closed due to landslides. The scale of the disaster is quite numbing.

So possible please helped out the people and save this beautiful country by these organization Partner in health, Lambi Fund and Yele – all are NGOs working for betterment of the people.

Bora Bora beaches means first to born is the most romantic island in the whole world. Whatever it be, legends, mysteries, romance, all gets relate to the name itself that brings mystical feeling to the island. The island has everything that a romantic couple wants in a beach such as beautiful sunrise and sunset, pristine blue water, dazzling white sand and over water bungalows, which rates at 10 on a scale of romance. Over forty years, the resorts and hotels have been alluring couples for their perfect romantic vacation. Each resort or hotel has unique benefits that are designed to give couples unforgettable experience.

In the French Polynesia, this stunning tropical island stands out for the romantic happy holidays for the couples. Most of the visitors are the honeymooners, rich and famous people. Plus there are other more islands like Taha’a, Raiatea and Huahin, where you can cruise around in the tropical South Pacific Ocean, thus perfect place to cruise around on various islands.

Things to Do

You just cannot imagine doing anything else rather than relaxing and sipping drinks on the while glittering smooth sand with clear blue water washing off the shores and turquoise blue lagoons. The sunset is just amazing; red round spot in the horizon of the ocean and its red rays falling on seawater, which looks like red carpet, calling you to follow him in a wonderful world, which is beyond some magical place! And by your side while watching this romantic sunset, is sitting you loved one; holding hands with feeling never to leave it… is just awesome! In daytime do not just lie around, do snorkeling with your water or scuba diving. It is a great way to spend time laughing and having fun together. When you will leave from here, all you will take away are the memories- beautiful memories- from here! If you are water phobic, do not worry, hire a bicycle and explore the sites that exits just for you! Need to take away something from here just to keep it as a symbol of great time spend, wander and search of your choice from many boutiques and shops around the town. You will find plenty of shops selling hand painted Pareos (silk wraps) and the regions famous black pearls. The island also has great nightlife where you will also find relaxing joints. To eat, you will find everything from cheeseburger to islands fresh fish! At La Bounty, you will get plenty of options to select from Italian and French dishes, which are at very affordable prices.

Getting Around

If you want roam around the island, you have many options such as hire a car like Avis or European car Vaitape pier; even scooters and cycle are available for rent. You will get public buses, which run on this island and be careful as these buses are never on time, let it be to depart or to reach somewhere. And the special thing about this buses are, they do not just work on Sundays, cool! I would recommend to you that take a cab for a day excursion. From pier to the main beach, you will get shuttle service, which will only cost you five dollars. The official language spoken is French and Tahitian but you will not face any language barrier here, as the English is common language spoken by the locals.

Cruise Stops

Most of the time, near main town of Vaitape in Pofai bay, cruise ships anchors. From there tender helps to reach across to the dockside. If it’s a halt of few hours, then Vaitape is a great place to hang out as there are many shops to shop into and restaurants with delicious food, and the excursions to the nearby areas is also breathtaking. Take a note of this that on Sunday evenings; the shops and restaurants are closed, so it would be better if you made other arrangement before coming here on this day. Compared to other destination in French Polynesia, Vaitape is very expensive for food, shopping, hiring cars, etc.

Great place for the romantic couples to visit especially those who want to celebrate their wedding anniversary or starting a new life with each other. You will not regret coming here! You will enjoy each and every moment spend here and with your loved one.

The old maxim holds true: ‘No man is an island’. Even the wise need to know the best islands of the planet because they too could be living on one. A startling statistic puts the number of humans living on islands at 10 out of hundred. If you wish to travel to these marvels of nature make a not of the islands mentioned below.

1. The Pitcairn Islands

The Pitcairn Islands are relatively unheard of. The island has a rich history. The HMS Bounty witnessed a mutiny. The crew along with a few Tahitian companions made the island their home. The descendants, almost 50 of them, preside over the entire island. The language of the inhabitants is Pitkem, which is a blend of English and Tahitian. Till date, you can view the wreck of HMS Bounty under water.

The islands have become part of a British Overseas Territory. The island is volcanic in nature. It is located 1350 miles southeast of Tahiti and 4100 miles from Panama. The administrative affairs of the island are managed from Auckland, New Zealand.

The Pitcairn Island is 2 miles long and 1 mile wide. The capital is Adamstown, which is located above Bounty Bay. The road that leads to the capital has been named as ‘The Hill of Difficulty’.

2. Bishop Rock

Bishop Rock stands as the world’s smallest island. So, if you have any plans living here, think again. Located off the coast of Britain, Bishop Rock is home to a lighthouse. The lighthouse was constructed in the year 1858. The island has served the purpose of leaving a criminal all marooned.

The lighthouse is built on a rock ledge and is 46 meter long and 16 meter wide. The force of the currents in the Atlantic Ocean makes it difficult to construct a structure like a lighthouse.

The rocks around the Scilly Isles have led to the wreck of many vessels. The Elder Brethren of Trinity House came to a conclusion that the lighting in Scilly Isles, which consisted of a single lighthouse, was inappropriate; and therefore, there was a need to construct an additional lighthouse on Bishop Rock.

3. Dubai

Dubai should not be restricted to mere oil production. Dubai has some of the most exquisite man-made islands. A stay on one of the islands, such as the one shaped liked a palm tree, is expensive, but is worth every penny. Dubai is constantly upgrading with man-made wonders. The ingenuity of the architects is reflected in the structures.

Some view the islands of Dubai as the eighth wonder of the world. These islands are sure to leave a lasting impression on the mind of the traveler. The man-made islands look like nature’s own creation.

The islands adorn the coastline of Dubai. It has taken years of planning to create these architectural masterpieces. The islands of Dubai fall into two groups: Palm Island Dubai and the Palm Island Jumeirah.

The Palm Tree Island is the first island to be constructed. It is built in the shape of a date palm tree. The Jumeirah island is home to the famous Burj Al Arab, which is a seven-star hotel. The Palm island in Jumeirah consists of upscale accommodations such as hotels, villas and apartments.

Afloat in the foaming engorges of the northern Atlantic; the mystic eighteen part jigsaw riddle of islands is a tasteful blend of primeval and ultra-contemporary.

Vivid-hued small houses and sward-covered wood-based minsters pin the spotlight to the majestically bare highlands. Ageless clusters of stone-speckled bridle paths zigzag through to the Cake Mountains that are layered with steep rugged rocks. The smallest formerly-remote village settlements are presently well-connected by a notable succession of road conduits. One is never communicably out of range, even as one explores the spectacular fjords aboard a decades- old rigged boat.

The Faroe Islands are a delight for moor-hikers and bird-zoologists that are fine with the erratic climate. The wonderfully exuberant grasslands that are uniquely scythed down by herds of sheep, the celestial green-hued meadows, tweeting puffins, somersaulting skuas and free-veering fulmars soar over woozy gorges. Capes tattered by wave currents conclude in plummeting crags that proffer spectacular sights with the brawly winds taking many a trekkers unawares.

Streymoy is considered the biggest of the Faroe Islands and is abode to the world’s tiniest capital town, Tórshavn. Streymoy boasts of the islet’s most spectacular panoramas. One is simply awestruck by the sights of a plethora of precipices on the north-west side of Streymoy that soars up to more than five hundred metres in height.

Aptly considered the superlative appeal for sightseers in Faroes Islands is the astounding boat ride to the lofty Vestmanna Bird Cliffs. It is truly a memorable boat ride as one dips below soaring rock faces, meandering through bristly rock summits on course through areas between constricted steep slopes. The Vestmanna Bird Cliffs are a birdwatcher’s paradise where one can revel at the breeding grounds of several unique bird forms, with spectacular sights and sounds of birds chirping and squealing as they glide high above like countless white spots in the sky.

The alluring, sociable island of Suðuroy is engagingly un-travelled in comparison to its key industrial and transportation focal point, Tvøroyri. It tenders the most distinctive pub experiences and budget friendly boarding houses. The Suðuroy Island might seem a tad less spectacular in comparison to North Eysturoy, but it is an idyllic location to indulge in hiking expeditions to unearth its precipitous inlet gnawed waves. One can hitch a road ride to brace numerous endearing views as one undertakes exploring the plummeting west coast located bird crags.

The chapel Les Vaubelets is perhaps the smallest sized chapel in the world with the interior space having a holding capacity of at most three including the priest. It is the delightful conception of Brother Deodat, a Benedictine monk who re-built a scale replica of the Basilica at Lourdes and arduously bedecked it with plentiful seashells, nuggets and chipped bone china.

The Sausmarez Manor located at St. Martin’s is a 13th century notable house that was the abode to generations of Seigneurs, has more than two hundred sculpted pieces in the art park, with the sub-tropical garden having an unique array of flora and fauna.
One can have a one-on-one session with sharks, dolphins, turtles, rays and fishes at the striking Lagoonarium or don a big helmet and engage in some aqua safari while scuba diving. The Aquascope is an incredible way of having a fish-eye view of the undersea by boarding a semi-immersed water craft that will glide you through the happening spots around the lagoon with the option of staying dry.

Bora Bora is home to some grand archaeological relics, particularly the familial veneration places devoted to a particular deity known as maraes whose blessings were called upon through gifts. There are 42 marae recorded in Bora Bora, with their majestic, open and smoothened coral raised areas or altars. The classic shaped Fare Opu marae located on the Faanui bay is outstanding with its ornate turtle petroglyphs perched atop huge coral rock formations. The Vaiotaha marae is noteworthy in comparison to all the marae. There are three maraes of Aehautai located on the shoreline of Vairao Bay.

History buffs are bound to be enthralled by the strategically posted seven gigantic WW2 cannons, relics of bygone era that were placed as key points on the island to avert an attack from the Japanese. Fitiiu Point situated about 11kms from Vaitape provides for interesting viewing with two maraes and two WW2 jumbo cannons. Taihi Point has splendid views of the lagoon and is located about 1km from the Marine Museum that has a wide display of remarkable boats and fascinating aspects of Polynesian marine past. The Tereia Point can be reached by road from Taihi Point, has another WW2 cannon atop found on top of the hill.

The Matira Point situated 7.5kms from Vaitepe has a massive cluster of hotels. One can head to the Matira beach that stretches for 1.5kms commencing close to the highly famed Bloody Mary’s Restaurant or stopover at the Club Med located about 9kms. The completely feral and unblemished Motu Tapu, perched in the heart of the lagoon drifts a mile outwards from the main island. The sunrise point on it proffers splendid views of the soaring Mt. Otemanu. Placed at the peak of its highest hill, lies the bell of the stone of Hiro which is an archaeological cache that used to be rung at the time of significant ceremonial functions. Opposite the Motu Toopua, on the west coast of the island are the two cavernous bays of Faanui and Poofai that are remnants of an olden volcanic fissure.

The Ross Island, the ex-capital city during British rule, is a small island, home to wrecks of old structures like Government House, Chief Commissioner’s House, Press and Ballroom amongst several others reached from the Phoenix Bay Jetty via boat services. The aborigines were convinced by the British to come and settle down, whose houses, tools and lives are depicted in the Anthropological Museum at Phoenix Bay. Smritika museum has been set up by the Navy that portrays the rich history of the island.

The tranquil, small, scenic island of Viper has borne silent witness to unthinkable torment, with many who breached the Penal Settlement, being compelled to slog it out in chains. The gallows erected atop the hummock was strategically located so that all prisoners could witness it.

The vegetable basin of the Andamans, the thriving green Neil Island with its scenic sandy beaches along with Laxmanpur, Sitapur and Bharatpur are the perfect eco-paly getaways. One is humbled by the soothing ambience and earnest lifestyles of simplistic village life. Fleets of dolphins are regular visitors around Long Island which has charming Lalaji Bay with its untainted setting.

Cutbert bay has the most serene village existence amalgamating wonderfully with unspoilt nature. It transforms into turtle breeding ground during the early months of the year. One can enjoy utter bliss in the Panchavati waterfalls or the marvellous Amkunj beach en route to Cutbert bay.

Karmatang beach also a turtle breeding ground along with Mayabunder has the most unique cross-cultural dwellers that comprise its divergent culture. The mangrove bordered bays add to the lure of the place.

The dual islands of Ross and Smith are ideal for those who seek solitude from urbane monotony. The Little Andaman Island has numerous beaches dotting the coast of the island. The most scenic of them is the beach located at Butler Bay with cascading waterfalls, oil palm farms. The Hut Bay proffers some truly splendid views.

The Corbyn’s Cove is the closest to reach from Port Blair, at a mere 7 km distance. Other great options are the close proximity located Snake Island, Jolly Buoy or the Red Skin with its rich coral reefs.

To view the splendid Limestone caves or the mud volcano, head off to Baratang Island situated between Central and South Andamans. One has to venture through lush, dense forest to make it to Baratang. Havelock Island and the Parrot Island can be visited from Rangat and Barantang Island.
